Recent Work: Vintage Glamour

Hi Guys!
I wanted to share with you some of my work from a recent project I've been working on. It's part of a new business venture- Beaute Socials- with makeup by Jules of Dollface By Jules and photography by my husband Dylan.  It's a one-stop destination for glamorous beauty portraits & vintage inspirations- we have makeup/hair/wardrobe/photography in one studio located in downtown Savannah. Below is a look I styled that features 20's and 50's inspirations brought up to date. The thing I love most is that almost all of the pieces are thrifted!

Beaded bolero- Charlotte Russe clearance
Headband- custom made by me

Asian Flair

You've probably caught on by now that I'm in love with exotic influences and traditional costumes! So...imagine my reaction when I spied this Chinoiserie dress in a gorgeous bold red hue while out thrifting recently! For a fun modern mix I paired it with black patent platforms and a gold mesh clutch.

Betty Boop!

I was going to give this dress away because it had short sleeves which were too tight... But- I loved the cut of the dress and couldn't bear it so I cut the sleeves off so now its a sleeveless dress! The other thing I did was unfold the collar to make it lay flat so it gave this beautiful vintage looking pointed bodice. My hair was going wild with the results of half done pin curls so I just pinned it up some and went out the door. At work I had 2 people comment that I was looking sort of Betty Boop! Love that! What do you think?

The Details:
Dress- Primark-London
Platforms- Steve Madden
Belt- vintage (came with a jacket from a consignment store)
Gold watch- estate sale piece from my Aunt Sandy

Refashion Rescue: Beaded Headband

Today I wanted to share a fun Grecian inspired look I did. The inspiration piece was this DIY headband I refashioned from the beaded collar of a top I had that was stained. All I did was cut around the fabric of the collar area with fabric scissors- all the way to the back so that I had two long fabric pieces. Then you can just tie those pieces together and pin for a headband or wear as a necklace. That's it!

The Details:
Headband- DIY refashion rescue
2 teal scarves tied together to make one- free (part of a uniform for a company I worked for)
Cotton lounge-around dress- thrifted
Floral wedges- hand me down from Stacy
Bracelet- part of a set from an Indian store in Atlanta

Do you have any DIY projects you've done to rescue an old favorite? I'd love to hear about them!

Tiki Time!

I had fun putting together yet another outfit that takes inspiration from 1940s tiki style! These thrifted gaucho pants led the way! I paired with a keyhole tank top worn backwards for a less casual, more vintage look- something I've done before here and here. For the finishing touch, I added the striped tote for a bold and unexpected contrast.

The Details:
Top- old from the juniors section @ Belk
Gauchos- thrifted 90s (with tags still on!)
Espadrilles- thrifted

Sixties Swim Style

Hi Guys!
Here is a vintage swimsuit look I wore recently for a friend's pool party. It's completely thrifted- in fact, the swim separates I bought separately because I so didn't love the floral bottom they had- one of those super high 80s cuts. I much prefer the coverage and cut of these little bo peep high-waisted boyshorts and this way it recalls an earlier 1960s vintage look :) linking up at Not Dead Yet Styleta-dah Tuesday!

Outfit details:
Swim top- thrifted
Swim bottoms-thrifted
Vintage sandals- thrifted
Parasol- from an Asian Festival years ago
Patent tote- free (gift)
