Came across this silliness on my computer from last year... here I am in a dress I found in the kids department while out thrifting. No, I didn't actually wear this little ensemble out in public, just apparently had the free time to clown around in this.

Refashion Rescue: 60s Style Earrings

I loved the shape of these drop earrings when I scooped them up for $1 at a local flea market- however, I wasn't in love with the color so I just painted them! This is super simple and very similar to my vintage hand mirror refashion post. Now I love their 1960s look and they will be much more versatile!

Refashioning a Jewelry Piece:

1. Gather Supplies.
• Jewelry piece you want to change the color of (Could be anything! Jewelry with details that are semi-flat or flat are easier)
• Krylon silver foil metallic spray paint (or whatever color you prefer)
• Cosmetic wedge sponge
2. Spray your paint on the sponge and press onto the piece.
3. Repeat until you get the desired effect/ level of coverage.
4. Let it dry and enjoy your new jewelry piece!

1 Piece 3 Ways: Colorblock Skirt

Look 3 was all about breaking the color blocking up with bold punches of black. My inspiration was this cool vintage fabric I draped as a top- it shared the colors in the skirt yet added interest when paired with it. I finished with sharp black accessories and an earring that would blend in with the color palette party going on in the top so the black accents remained strong.

1 Piece 3 Ways: Colorblock Skirt

Ok, so I think its obvious I had a bit too much fun with this one! For this look I wanted to play up the color and fun factor so I went with orange and added crazy punches of gold. My inspiration was 60s airline stewardess meets futuristic fashionista! I actually wanted to work with the shape of the top so I created this peplum look by belting it. The Vintage Soda was a fun addition (my husband's idea!) provided courtesy of our friends Angelina and Blake. Not only are they yummy but apparently they make a great fashion accessory too!

1 Piece 3 Ways: Colorblock Skirt

I've been in love with this color blocked skirt since I first laid eyes on it! Today I wanted to share one of the looks I put together featuring this piece....

This look is a good way to let the skirt stand out as a statement piece by pairing it with a classic white button down shirt. I thought this was a sophisticated, simple look that would be appropriate for the office, church, or a meeting.

Statement Piece: Palazzo Pants

I had fun showcasing my thrifted palazzo pants for this look! I'm all about great pants and find myself more and more these days on the lookout for pants that are loungey/printed/high waisted/fun! I paired these pants with neutral autumnal tones to bring it into fall and played with a few different accessories for varying impact. Oh- be sure to check out how awesome the back is in the last photo! You literally step into these and then tie them up at your waist- its the coolest thing!

DIY Jeweled Sandals

Earlier this summer I was dying for jeweled sandals- something that would instantly dress up basics (I don't wear flip flops ever!) However- when I looked around the prices were just ridiculous for jeweled sandals- like $60-$80 for nice ones that didn't look horribly cheap. So I was off to gather some supplies for my own attempt...

Supply List:

• Flat sandals (or any shoe for that matter). A nude color is best but otherwise a color that will coordinate with the colors you plan to do your gems in. Also don't choose ones with straps that are too thick (the gem won't cover enough space) or too thin (the gem will not be secure enough). Cost: $3 @ thrift store
• Bag of gems (variety pack comes in a clear plastic bag) from Michaels.  These can be more expensive so check for on sale or grab a coupon online. The bag comes with tons of colors/sizes/shapes so you will have a million left over for more DIYs.  Cost: $9
• Flip flop glue from Michaels. You could probably also use another adhesive but I wasn't sure.   I had doubts the gems would really adhere well but this worked incredibly well! Cost: $3

Directions:

1. Lay out the gems you want to use and try your best to place on shoe to map out the placement.
2. Glue on, wait to dry and your done!

Total Project Cost: $15 (but with tons of gems left over to inspire oodles of other projects :)

Last Days of Summer

It's now September but it still feels like summer here in Savannah! Here's a fun easy breezy look featuring a thrifted Ralph Lauren 100% silk skirt (color of the day so was only $1.99!).  I love the high-low hemline and sarong style of it- plus I've been loving tangerine colors all summer and just couldn't resist this beauty!

Asian Flair

You've probably caught on by now that I'm in love with exotic influences and traditional costumes! So...imagine my reaction when I spied this Chinoiserie dress in a gorgeous bold red hue while out thrifting recently! For a fun modern mix I paired it with black patent platforms and a gold mesh clutch.

Refashion Rescue: Beaded Headband

Today I wanted to share a fun Grecian inspired look I did. The inspiration piece was this DIY headband I refashioned from the beaded collar of a top I had that was stained. All I did was cut around the fabric of the collar area with fabric scissors- all the way to the back so that I had two long fabric pieces. Then you can just tie those pieces together and pin for a headband or wear as a necklace. That's it!
